Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This legislation requires a district attorney pro tempore be appointed in lieu of the district attorney to examine the use of force whenever a peace officer uses force in the performance of his or her duties that results in the serious injury or death of a person within the jurisdiction of the elected district attorney.
